Dr. Nitka Specializes in:


Dr. Nitka is a native of Tucson, Arizona. He received his B.S. Degree in Chemistry with distinction from the University of Arizona and his M.D. Degree from the College of Medicine, University of Arizona. Dr. Nitka served both his general surgery internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Nitka is fellowship trained in spine surgery from the Texas Institute for Spinal Disorders in Houston. He began his orthopaedic practice in Greensboro in 1990. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Nitka is also a member of the American Medical Association, the Southern Orthopaedic Association and is a member of the Southern Medical Association. He was Secretary of the Southern Medical Association's Section on Orthopaedics and Traumatology Surgery from 1996 to 2001. He was Associate Counselor for the Southern Medical Association for North Carolina from 1996 to 2002. Dr. Nitka has also co-authored a chapter in a book concerning Painful Spine Disorders.
